I was invited to be a guest on a podcast called “The Road To Growth: Success As An Entrepreneur”, hosted by Vinnie Enriquez, a San Diego businessman (realtor) who is interested in helping entrepreneurs learn by hearing from others who have struggled and overcome challenges on their own roads to success.

I jumped at the chance because I love sharing my mistakes in service of others who are on their way to being wildly successful.

In this podcast, I mention some of the books and people who have made my own road to growth successful, after years of struggling to find my own identity. It’s “funny” that this is what I help my clients uncover, with my objective “eye of the consumer”. And yet, being so close to my own journey, it has been quite challenging to uncover what was always right here inside me.

Do you ever feel like you have your finger on the pulse, and yet, it’s difficult to assess and name what might be standing in your way (usually ourselves)?

I would like to thank author Bryan Kramer, my Business Coach, for being that objective voice for my life and business. Working with him has made all the difference.  It’s ironic that I have followed Bryan for many many years because I love to study the “Social CEO”. I even applied for a job at Bryan’s marketing firm, Purematter, long ago. I did not get hired. And over all these years, he has become a dear friend and now, my coach (even us coaches need a coach, that’s for sure).

I used to beat the pavement, trying to find my perfect place in the business world, wanting to be of service in a way that really made a difference.

Interview after interview. Resume after resume, I kissed plenty of “frogs” and I am grateful for every opportunity that i missed, and every hiring manager who said “no”.

In this podcast episode, i also mentioned Jay Baer’s book, “Hug Your Haters”, which is a unique approach to handling trolls and haters who surface in popular, robust communities. I highly recommend it if you are in the community industry.

Other ideas we discussed are things like how to:

  • discover your best clients, ones that you WANT to shout out, and get paid to do that,

  • grow social communities, worldwide, 24/7, and still have a life,

  • determine your own “voice”, tailored to your client’s “brand personality”

  • get a new client started (on-boarding).

I hope you enjoy this podcast. It’s longer than most, because it’s chock full of what Vinnie and I think would be valuable insights you can apply to everyday life and business growth.

Please leave a comment and let me know your thoughts.

I’d love to hear ideas that I may have missed. Thank you for being on this journey with me.
